Bartholomew Kwabena Antwi is part of the Ghana Poultry Project (GPP), for which Esoko provides information on poultry prices in the country, and products for animal nutrition and health through SMS, Voice-SMS and a call centre. He is smiling because since he began receiving information from the program, he has been able to improve his business strategy and revenue from his poultry business.

“I wanted to fatten up my 8-week-old chickens to sell for a higher price later. Upon monitoring the prices for a while I have decided to sell rather than wait as I may lose out.” On sourcing maize for chicken feed “The text messages I received on maize prices from all the markets around me helped me buy at the lowest cost, saving me some money”.

Esoko is part of the Ghana Poultry Project’s wider objective to increase agriculture productivity in the poultry value chain through capacity building, improving input markets, and promoting strategic investments and private-public partnerships. GPP is funded by the United Sates Department of Agriculture (USDA) and implemented by ACDI/VOCA and TechnoServe.
