FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Nairobi, Kenya – Esoko launched its new website today (www.esoko.com), which reflects the company’s transformation towards mobile commerce and digital financial services for farmers in Africa.
The new website highlights the company’s first m-commerce solution, Fasiba. This solution allows farmers to lay-away and borrow money to purchase discounted agricultural inputs such as fertilizer and seed through a virtual marketplace.
Launched in 2008, Esoko was a pioneer in the provision of vital information to farmers, including market prices, weather forecasts, and agronomic tips. With the new solution, those services will be offered for free to farmers as part of a bundle of services that includes access to finance and inputs.
“The new website is a great reflection of Esoko’s transformation,” said Hillary Miller-Wise, CEO of Esoko. “The site communicates our vision of becoming the leading virtual marketplace for smallholder farmers in Africa.”
Fasiba was launched in Ghana in November 2016 and is slated to go live in Kenya later this year.
