Empowering Ghana’s Young Agripreneurs under YEA

By September 5, 2019 No Comments

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA Ghana) was established to empower young people to contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic and sustainable development of the nation. In line with this mandate, YEA has partnered with Esoko to provide technical and field support on the YEA Maize Cultivation Project at Wenchi in the Bono East Region.

So far, the One hundred (100) youth selected by YEA to participate in the maize cultivation project at Branam in the Wenchi Municipality have undergone Farmer Business School training to equip them with business skills as agripreneurs.

The objective of the training among others is to impart business skills and knowledge that would enable the youth consider farming as a business. In addition, youth are encouraged to take advantage of improved technologies and market opportunities to increase income.

Trainees were also introduced to the recommended farm management practices for the cultivation and management of maize farms and were enrolled onto Esoko’s Banbo program to increase farmers’ resilience to emerging threats and economic stressors.
